SCERT Jammu organises FDP on Cyber Safety and Security

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT), Divisional Office Jammu, organised Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Cyber Safety and Security as a part of the commemoration of 5 transformative years of NEP-2020 in the premises of this office on Monday.

The program aimed to increase awareness among different stakeholders about the cyber security and safety in present times. At the outset Navneet Gupta, Member Secretary Cyber Hygiene Cell, SCERT Jammu briefed the participants about the various initiatives undertaken in Cyber Hygiene with the help of DNOs from DIETs and SNOs from schools of Jammu Division. Gurcharan Singh, Nodal Officer Cyber Hygiene Cell, Jammu Division delivered a thoughtful session covering various aspects of Cyber Security and orient the participants about cyber frauds, Phishing, Cyber bullying and other related digital crimes. He also stressed upon the fact that awareness and alertness is an important factor to cope with the various forms of Digital frauds as in this age of unprecedented digital evolution, nurturing awareness regarding Cyber Hygiene is imperative for our technology driven society. In her insightful address, Prof. Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT, Jammu Division, highlighted the relevance of NEP 2020 in prioritizing integration of Cyber Safety education in to educational programs, aiming to enhance awareness and provide students with the necessary digital literacy skills for secure internet navigation. She encouraged the participants to encompass practices that safeguard digital information which is instrumental in equipping individuals with the necessary skills to navigate the digital safely. For teachers as well as students, this topic is very important to determine online risks, fostering responsible digital citizenship
Yash Pal Gupta, Principal DIET Samba Convenor, Cyber Hygiene Cell and Guest of Honour on the occasion also spoke about the relevance of cyber awareness to be disseminated to the children as part of the curriculum.
