Director IIM Jammu inaugurates LEAD Mahotsav 2024

JAMMU: The much-anticipated two-day Mahotsav 2024, organized by LJK Economic Growth and Development Dialogue (LEAD), was inaugurated on Saturday with great opening at the GGM Science College Grounds, here.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu. The event promises to be a spectacular showcase of the rich cultural heritage, entrepreneurial spirit, and diversity of Swadeshi products from the regions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
The second feature of Mahotsav has established itself as a vibrant platform for promoting local craftsmanship, startups, and tourism, alongside fostering a sense of community and collaboration. With over 150 stalls exhibiting a variety of local products, native cuisines, handicrafts, cultural artifacts, and startup ventures, the Mahotsav aims to create a significant social and economic impact while drawing attention to the immense potential of the region’s heritage and enterprise.
The first day of the Mahotsav saw an overwhelming footfall more than expectation, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and support for this unique celebration. Attendees were treated to a series of captivating events and activities, each designed to engage people of all age groups.
The highlight of the day was SABRANG, a colourful competition for schools and colleges students featuring folk dances and singing performances that celebrated the vibrant cultural traditions of the region.
Around 3000 Students across the region, participated in the SABRANG.
MP Jugal Kishore graced the occasion and welcomed all the participants in the Mahotsav.
Another key attraction was Prathibha Prakatikaran, a talent showcase that provided a platform for individuals to display their unique skills.
The President of Sanathan Dharam Sabha, Parshotam Dadhichi was also present during the event. The audience was further enthralled by a powerful demonstration of Gatka, the Sikh martial arts form, symbolizing courage and discipline.
Following this, Rang Tarang brought the stage to life with mesmerizing performances by renowned artists from Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, celebrating the region’s rich folk’s culture.
In addition to cultural performances, the Mahotsav also featured interactive Sketch workshops and live demonstrations of Canvas arts, offering attendees an opportunity to engage closely with the heritage of the region.
The event also highlighted emerging tourist destinations and the unique offerings of Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir, aiming to promote sustainable tourism and regional development. The event was also graced by BJP J&K President Sat Sharma along with other MLAs and numbers of Karyakartas.
The festive ambiance of the Mahotsav was elevated by the vibrant and diverse audience it attracted, including children, students, young entrepreneurs, women, sports enthusiasts, and army veterans. Adding to the charm were the food stalls that offered an authentic culinary journey through Dogri, Kashmiri, and Ladakhi cuisines, delighting the taste buds of attendees.
The inauguration was graced by Director LEAD Sunil Shah, Manish Ahluwalia, and LEAD Board Members, including Harinder Gupta, CA Rajeev Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Surinder Mohan Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Raman Suri, and Vikram Gujral, along with other members.
