SMS Club lifts 36th Poonch District Volleyball C’ship trophies

POONCH: The 36th Poonch District Volleyball Championship for Senior Men and Women concluded successfully on Tuesday at the Sports Stadium, Poonch.
The event was organized by the District Volleyball Association Poonch, under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.
The two-day competition saw participation from nine teams in the men’s section and four teams in the women’s section from across the district.

After a thrilling series of matches, SMS Club and Young Heroes Club secured their spots in the finals. In the men’s final, SMS Club triumphed over Young Heroes Club, winning with a nail-biting score of 25-20, 21-25, and 16-14.
In the women’s section, SMS Club defeated Khelo India Centre Poonch to claim victory. The championship was organized on a knockout basis, ensuring competitive and exciting matches throughout.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shafiq Malik, District Treasury Officer, as the Chief Guest, while Mohd Shakeel, AEE Jal Shakti, served as the Guest of Honour.
The final matches were officiated by DK Raina, PET, and Ghulam Abbas, PET.
Among the other prominent dignitaries present were Nirdosh Kumar Sharma, In-Charge of the Sports Stadium Poonch, Prem Prakash Luthra, Ram Prakash, Ground In-Charge, and Neeraj Sharma, Coach.
The entire event was meticulously framed and visualized by Neeraj Sharma and DK Raina, whose efforts contributed to the smooth execution of the championship.
The championship was a great success, bringing together volleyball talent from across Poonch and showcasing exciting matches that highlighted the skill and sportsmanship of the participants.
