Father-daughter duo among 3 booked for duping2 youths of Rs 55 lakhs on job promise

JAMMU: Crime Branch on Friday booked three persons including father-daughter duo for duping Rs two unemployed youth of Rs 55 lakhs, assuring job as Junior Engineer in Jal Shakti Department and clearance in JKAS 2023 exam.
The accused assured the family that the jobs would be ensured through proper process of selection by J&K Service Selection Board and Public Service Commission.
According to FIR 55/24, a retired government employee Bubal Kumar, son of late Krishan Lal, resident of Kot Bhalwal, Jammu lodged a complaint with Crime Branch (Economic Offences Wing) Jammu against Pooja Choudhary, her father Subash Chander, resident of Ramgarh in district Samba and Dalip Singh, resident of Gurha Brahmana, Bantalab, Jammu alleging therein that in January 2022, accused namely Dalip Singh, son of Dayal Singh came in contact with him and assured that he could get jobs for his two sons, technically well qualified and educated, in government departments, in a legal way through proper selection process for which he demanded Rs.50 lakhs from him.
The accused also showed some fake joining letters of Ishit Khajuria in Prasar Bharti, Akashwani Bhawan to lure him. Thereafter, Bubal Kumar was introduced to Pooja Choudhary, who pretended to be very influential, having links and resources in the administration and assured appointment of his two sons in Jal Shakti Vibhag, Jammu.
Bubal Kumar, initially, ignored her proposal on the pretext that his sons are qualified and eligible and will get their jobs on the basis of merit and performance.
However, the accused approached him time and again and insisted on accepting their proposal. Subash Chander, father of Pooja Choudhary also approached Bubal Kumar and assured that he himself is a government employee and there is no hesitation in paying Rs 50 lakh to get government jobs. They also took the original educational documents of Bubal Kumar’s two sons and assured him to complete this assignment within a month and their names will be included in the final selection list of JEs. Bubal Kumar initially paid Rs.4 lakhs in cash to Pooja Choudhary in presence of Dalip Singh, in the presence of his wife and sons and rest of the payment was agreed to be paid only after the publication of selection list of JEs, states the FIR.
The accused persons started pressurizing the complainant Bubal Kumar for more money for the appointment of his sons, in order to save his hard-earned money already paid, from forfeiture. On this assurance, Bubal Kumar paid a huge amount of Rs 50 lakhs to them. But despite the lapse of more than two years, they neither returned the money nor provided appointment letters of his sons, the FIR states.
Pooja Choudhary also duped the victim of an additional amount of Rs 5 lakhs on the pretext of getting his both sons selected in JKAS Exam 2023.
After preliminary verification, it was revealed that the accused hatched conspiracy, committed cheating and forgery and duped the complainant of hard earned money, FIR under sections 420, 465, 468,120-B IPC has been registered against Pooja Choudhary, daughter of Subash Chander, resident of Ramgarh, District Samba, Dalip Singh, son of Dayal Singh, resident of Gurha Brahmana, Bantalab, Jammu and Subash Chander, resident of Ramgarh, District Samba for in-depth investigation. Investigation of the case has been entrusted to DySP Naseem Akhter.
