SRINAGAR: The 36th District Srinagar Volleyball Championship, organized by the District Srinagar Volleyball Association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir and sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, was a resounding success.
Hosted at the University of Kashmir Volleyball court, the event featured a total of 18 teams, with 14 competing in the boys’ section and 4 in the girls’ section.

Chief Guest, Kuldip Magotra, CEO VAJK, presenting winner trophies to boys and girls teams.

The championship served as a platform for young spikers to showcase their skills and passion for the sport.
Kuldip Magotra, CEO of the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the importance of sports in shaping youth character.
He encouraged the young participants to avoid drugs and negative influences, advocating for a healthier lifestyle through sports.
Magotra also praised Muneer Aalam, Secretary of the Srinagar Volleyball Association, for his tireless efforts in promoting youth engagement in volleyball.
Mohd Tariq, Joint Secretary Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Additionally, sports promoter Zahid Manzoor Shaikh was recognized for his significant contributions to the local sports community.
Others present were Nelofer Habib Secretary Kulgam Volleyball Association, Imtiaz Bhatt, Sidarat Hussain and Ajaz Ahmed.
In the boys’ section, the semi-finals delivered intense competition, with Khonmoh Spikers defeating Spartan Tailbal 2-1 (19-25, 26-24, 15-11) and Elite Volleyball Club overcoming the University of Kashmir by the 2-1 (25-18, 16-25, 15-9). The final match saw Elite Volleyball Club dominate Khonmoh Spikers, securing the championship title with a convincing 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-22) victory and lifted the trophy of District Srinagar championship.

Meanwhile, the girls’ final was equally thrilling, as Junior Elite Volleyball Club triumphed over Senior Elite volleyball Club in a nail-biting contest that ended 3-2 (25-18, 20-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-13), highlighting the high level of talent among the female athletes.
Overall, the championship not only showcased exceptional volleyball talent but also fostered a sense of community and sportsmanship among participants and spectators alike.
The event has set a promising precedent for future competitions in the region, inspiring young athletes to strive for excellence in their sporting endeavors.
