Gandhi Global Family J&K celebrates 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

JAMMU: Gandhi Global Family J&K on Wednesday organized a function to commemorate the 155th birth anniversary of Father of Nation at historic Dewan-e-Aam, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, Jammu.
I D Soni, who was the presiding officer on the occasion, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi along with other dignitaries.
While speaking on the occasion, I. D. Soni impressed upon the students to imbibe the ‘Gandhian values’ in their day to day lives to lead a peaceful life.
He also highlighted the philosophy of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi and its importance in present times. He further stressed upon promotion of national integration and equitable development of all sections of the society.
The cleanliness of self and surroundings is of paramount value which was exercised by Mahatma Gandhi, he added.
Dr. S P Varma, President, Gandhi Global Family J&K in his appeal from Srinagar to Prime Minister of India via Lt. Governor of UT of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha to intervene in West Asia to cease war in the Middle East and to strengthen global brotherhood & peace worldwide.
With simplicity, non-violence, truthfulness, self-reliance and compassion at the core, Gandhian principles offer valuable insights into addressing contemporary global challenges, he added.
The day is also being observed as International Non-Violence Day wherein students of various schools & colleges threw light on Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution towards bringing peace and non-violence in the World. Besides, the students also celebrated the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri. People from all walks of life including students from various schools & colleges, teachers, senior citizens & dignitaries paid rich floral tributes to Father of Nation on his 155th Birth Anniversary.
The proceedings of the day were conducted by Sumi Seth, Vice President, GGF Women Jammu, assisted by Puneet Kour, GGF Women Jammu member.
The event was organised under the overall supervision of the organising committee which includes I D Soni, Chairman, Dinesh Gupta, Co-Chairman, Robin Gill, Mumtaz Ahmed Din Kabir, Rajinder Singh, Dr. Pervinder Kaur, Manish Joshi, Rajinder Singh, Dr. Alka Sharma and Amit Varma.
