JAMMU: National Sports Day is celebrated every year to promote sports and physical activities .
JK Public School (JKPS) Panjtirthi commemorated National Sports Day with an array of sports competitions, cultural programs, and speech contests.
Shelley Anand, the Celebration Incharge, addressed the audience highlighting the significance of National Sports Day and its connection to Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary.
Jakiians highlighted that “Games keep our body active, youthful ,energetic and Healthy and only a healthy person can work for long. A sports person knows that victory and defeat are the two aspects of the same coin. “
Various sports activities including tug of war, lemon and spoon race , Kangaroo race ,shoe tied race , three legged race, Frog Jump Race, Running, Duck Walk, Balloon Race, Needle and Thread Race etc were organised to develop the team spirit, leadership and sportsmanship qualities among Jakiians. Students demonstrated enthusiasm and passion throughout the day’s events, showcasing both their athletic abilities and their love for sports.
The school ground was transformed into a vibrant arena, echoing with the excitement and laughter.
The winners of all the games felt proud of being awarded with the cash prizes and attractive gifts from the Principal.
The Principal of JKPS Panjtirthi, Suman Banbah motivated the students and added, “Games make people bold, adventurous, socially disciplined and more conscious of their responsibility towards society and nation. Games also help in overcoming the sense of violence , arrogance and superiority .
