JAMMU: The Inter District Provincial Level Football competitions for boys under 14 and under 17 years were inaugurated today at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, by Ved Parkash (JKAS), Joint Director of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu. The event, hosted by the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Jammu, marks a significant moment in the region’s sporting calendar.
Organized under the patronage of Rajinder Singh Tara (JKAS), Director General of Youth Services and Sports, JK UT, and overseen by DYSSO Jammu Sunil Kumar Sharma, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams across various districts.
The inaugural matches saw intense competition, with Jammu defeating Poonch 1-0 in the under-14 category, and Kishtwar securing a 3-0 victory over Samba. Speaking at the inauguration, Ved Parkash encouraged the young athletes to continue honing their skills and to aim for success in future competitions.
The football competitions will continue over the next four days at the same venue, providing a platform for young talent to shine. The event was also attended by key officials, including In-charge DYSSO Harvinder Kour, In-charge ZPEO Dansal Dinesh Sharma, and In-charge ZPEO Khour Usha Foteder, along with other department officials.
This competition is a part of the broader efforts by the Youth Services and Sports Department to promote sports and provide young athletes with opportunities to compete at higher levels.
