JU celebrates 50 NIRF ranking among top Indian universities

JAMMU: The University of Jammu celebrated with great enthusiasm its remarkable achievement of securing the 50th rank among top Indian universities, as announced by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024.
The celebration, held on the University campus, was attended by Deans, Directors, Rectors, Heads of Teaching Departments, faculty members, and university officers, highlighting the collective effort behind this success.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, during an informal media interaction, elaborated on the University’s recent initiatives that contributed to this ranking.
He acknowledged the invaluable support and guidance of Chancellor and Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha, in aligning the University’s academic journey with evolving trends and innovations.
Prof. Rai emphasized the significance of the National Education Policy (NEP), which fosters holistic development, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students.
At the celebration event, Prof. Rai praised the dedication and hard work of the University community, attributing the success to the collective efforts and visionary leadership of the LG.
He encouraged faculty members to address areas identified for improvement and highlighted a recent grant of Rs 19.78 crore for constructing a new lecture hall complex, aimed at further enhancing the University’s infrastructure.
Dean Planning and Development, Prof. Meena Sharma, spoke about the importance of strategic planning and continuous development in sustaining success.
Dr. Ginny Dogra, Director of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), expressed gratitude to Prof. Rai for his leadership and acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders.
Dr. Dogra presented insights into the University’s progress and areas for future improvement, and her team was felicitated for their contributions. In recognition of their dedication and hard work, Dr. Ginny Dogra and her entire DIQA team were felicitated for their consistent efforts and contributions to this significant accomplishment.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, and the event proceedings were managed by Mansi Mantoo, Media Officer of the University. The celebration highlighted the University’s commitment to excellence and its collective spirit in achieving this historic milestone.
