VC lauds vision of LG, dedication of entire University fraternity

JAMMU: The University of Jammu (JU) on Monday crossed yet another significant milestone by achieving the distinction of bagging 50th rank among the best universities of India.
The proud moment for the University came with the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India this afternoon.
This marks a significant improvement for the University by moving ahead 13 steps and touching 50th mark from the previous rank of 63.

LG congratulates JU, other institutions

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended his heartiest congratulations to the University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, NIT Srinagar, IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, SKUAST Jammu and SKUAST Kashmir for ranking amongst top most Universities and Institutions of the country in the recently released NIRF Ranking.
The Lt Governor has posted on X: “University of Jammu breaks into the top 50 for the first time in the NIRF ranking (university category) released today by the Ministry of Education, GoI. Congratulations to Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, faculty members and non-teaching staff for this incredible achievement! I also congratulate Kashmir University, NIT Srinagar, SMVDU, SKUAST-K and SKUAST-J. Kashmir University is also among the top 50 universities in India. NIT Srinagar secured 79th rank, & SMVDU is in the top 40 for architecture. In agriculture and allied sectors, SKUAST-K and SKUAST-J have also achieved impressive rankings. SKUAST-K secured 10th rank whereas, SKUAST-J secured 20th. IIT Jammu and IIM Jammu have also been ranked among the top 100 Engineering and Management Institutes, respectively.”

The NIRF has been evaluating the performance of the institutions across the country since 2015 in five key areas, Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
“Touching 50th rank for the first time reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire university fraternity”, said Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu. He said earning a place in the top 50 is not just an honour but also opens up new opportunities for the university through special privileges under various governmental and UGC schemes. This recognition underscores the commitment of the University to provide top-quality education and establish a culture of academic excellence, he added.
Prof Rai expressed his joy over this achievement, attributing it to the leadership, vision, and support of the Chancellor, University of Jammu and Lieutenant Governor of JKUT Manoj Sinha.
“This accomplishment makes us immensely proud and is evidence of our collective dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of higher education,” said Prof. Rai.
He also extended his gratitude to the Higher Education Department and Finance Department of the Government of JK UT for their relentless support, which has been crucial to the university’s success.
