Modi vindicated Mukherjee, completed Nehru’s unfinished task by abrogating Art 370: Dr Jitendra
STATE TIMES NEWS
NEW DELHI: In a significant interview with News X on the 5th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fulfilling Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s vision and completing Jawaharlal Nehru’s unfinished task. Dr. Singh emphasized that Modi’s decision to abrogate Article 370 was a pivotal moment that rectified a historic injustice.
Dr. Singh recalled Nehru’s statement that Article 370 was intended to be temporary and would eventually “vanish in course of time,” a prediction not realized due to the vested interests of subsequent governments. He criticized previous administrations for exploiting Article 370 for political gain, citing how the term of J&K’s Assembly was manipulated under the guise of Article 370.
The Minister highlighted that the abrogation of Article 370 not only fulfilled Mukherjee’s vision but also brought citizenship rights to various groups in J&K, including those deprived of voting rights for decades. He commended Modi’s government for its decisive stance against anti-India activism, noting the imprisonment of those with ties to hostile entities.
Dr. Singh praised the transformative changes post-abrogation, including enhanced security, infrastructure development like the world’s tallest rail bridge over Chenab, and significant progress in education and youth aspirations. He pointed to the successful implementation of the 73rd and 74th Amendments to the Panchayat Act, which had been previously denied to J&K, and the increased voter turnout in elections.
He also noted the significant reduction in terrorism and highlighted the emergence of new economic opportunities, including the “Purple Revolution” in Bhaderwah. Dr. Singh concluded by urging Congress to acknowledge Modi’s achievement in completing the task that Nehru had envisioned as temporary.
