Saddam bags historic Thial Chougan Dangal title

JAMMU: Wrestler Chota Saddam of Hoshiarpur in Punjab lifted the 131st edition of the historic International Thial Chougan Dangal title defeating Shanbeer of Kohali, Amritsar in the main bout at Thial Chougan in Udhampur.
Winner of the title bout, Saddam awarded with cash prize of Rs. 61,000 while runners-up Shanbeer got Rs. 50,000. Former MLA, Ranbir Singh Pathania was Chief Guest, who presented the Saddam. Pathania also contributed Rs 21,000 to the organisers.
Former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council and president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Prabhari Kissan Morcha J&K, Nand Kishore Sharma was Guest of Honour.
The second main bout went to Narinder of Khanna in Punjab who defeated Mohammad Amir of Iran to take home a prize money of Rs 50,000. Runners-up, Mohammad Amir got Rs. 40,000. Rashid (Rs 18,000) of Domana Akhara in Jammu defeated Yogesh (Rs 13,000) of Mulapur in Chandigarh to claim the third main bout.
In all, 54 bouts played in Rs four lakh prize money day-long Dangal. Members of Thial Chougan Dangal Committee, who helped in smooth conduct of dangal were Krishan Kumar (president) Kewal Kumar (vice president), Kartar Chand (secretary) Madan Gopal, Hazi Mohd. Din and Krishan Lal.
Other Results: Imam Hussain of Domel beat Deepak of Khanna; Muneer of J&K Police beat Gurdeep of Hoshiarpur; Murad Ali of Nagrota beat Vikas of Delhi; Javed of UP beat Rajesh Sharma of J&K Police; Shubam Singh of Reasi beat Pardeep of Delhi. Bouts played between Nadeem of J&K Police of Doda and Vishal of Delhi and Billu of Jammu and Mohanu of Delhi ended in a draw.
