JAMMU: On the auspicious occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi, J&K Dharmarth Trust organized a Chabeel in front of the iconic Shri Raghunathji Temple in Jammu. This noble initiative was a gesture of goodwill and service, reflecting the spirit of the sacred day. On the occasion, Ranvijay Singh, Trustee along with Trust Officials distributed sweetened water and eatables to the public. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Secretary of J&K Dharmarth Trust was also present. Nirjala Ekadashi, considered one of the most significant and challenging fasts in the Hindu calendar, is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. Devotees traditionally abstain from food and water for 24 hours, seeking spiritual upliftment and blessings. The Chabeel, a tradition of serving sweetened water to quench thirst and provide relief, holds special significance on this day, offering comfort and refreshment to those observing the fast as well as the general public.
Ranvijay Singh, speaking on the occasion, emphasized the importance of such acts of kindness and community service. “Nirjala Ekadashi teaches us the values of sacrifice, devotion, and service to humanity. By organizing this Chabeel, we aim to embody these values and provide relief to those in need, fostering a sense of community and compassion,” he said. He said that the Trust has a long-standing tradition of serving the devotees and preserving the religious and cultural ethos of the region. This initiative on Nirjala Ekadashi is part of the Trust’s ongoing efforts to promote spiritual well-being and social welfare. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the local community, who gathered in large numbers to receive the offerings.
