Police’s cracks down on overloaded vehicles in Kishtwar district; six detained for endangering passengers’ lives

Kishtwar: In a proactive move to uphold public safety on the roads, the District Police Kishtwar conducted a successful operation resulting in the apprehension of six drivers for endangering the lives of passengers through negligent driving and overloading of vehicles.
Under the direction of SSP Kishtwar, various checkpoints were established at key locations by a team of District Police Kishtwar accompanied by Traffic Police NHW, under the supervision of Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta-JKPS. During surprise checks, vehicles were thoroughly inspected. Upon examination, it was discovered that six vehicles were significantly overloaded. Notably, the vehicles involved include Bus JK02BF-4758, Cruiser JK17-7075, Mini Bus JK06-0767, Mini Bus JK17-5682, Tata Sumo JK06-2536, & Mini Bus JK06-0518. exceeding their designated seating capacities. This blatant violation not only contravened the Motor Vehicles Act but also posed a severe risk to the safety and well-being of the passengers.
In response to this grave breach of road safety regulations, the District Police Kishtwar promptly registered FIRs – Case FIR NO.104/2024, 108/2024, 109/2024, 110/2025, & 112/2024 under relevant sections of laws at PS Kishtwar. The detained drivers will face legal consequences for their actions, ensuring accountability for endangering public safety.
