KISHTWAR: In a tragic incident, a government employee was among four persons of a family, who were killed while an infant was seriously injured after their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Bhandarkote area of Kishtwar on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, the vehicle JK17-2460 was on way from Kishtwar to Bandharkote for outing. On reaching Bhandarkote area on Kishtwar-Anantnag National Highway, the driver lost control over the steering while negotiating the curve, as a result of which vehicle skidded off the road and fell into gorge.
While confirming the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom informed that the family of Yasir Hussain, driver of an ambulance in District Hospital Kishtwar, along with his wife and one infant among his 3 children were traveling in the car when it met with mishap.
DySP Hqrs Kishtwar Sajad Khan, SHO Kishtwar Firdous Ahmed, locals, and Red Cross Society volunteers immediately reached the spot and rescued all from the ill-fated vehicle. They were shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar, where Doctors declared three of them as brought dead, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment, raising the toll to four. One Infant is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav also visited the hospital and directed police for thorough probe into the accident. “The vehicle met with accident at a tough terrain due to which it got compressed and totally damaged, resulting into the serious injuries to the onboard passengers, due to which we lost four lives” said DC Kishtwar.
The deceased have been identified as Ambulance Driver Yasir Hussain Butt, son of Abdul Gani Butt, his wife Shahzada Begum and their two children namely Ilaf and Artash, resident of Kishtwar. The injured child has been identified as four months old Arsh. It is pertinent to mention here that the deceased Yasir Hussain is an employee of the health department and presently posted at district hospital kishtwar as incharge of control room of district hospital kishtwar.
