Crackdown on bovine smuggling; 414 bovines rescued

Ramban/SAMBA: Under the directions of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar, Ramban Police acting tough against the bovine smugglers and curbing the bovine smuggling menace in the District Ramban, twenty seven (27) different vehicles were intercepted by different Police parties during past 03 weeks.
These vehicles carrying bovine animals and were on their way from Jammu towards Srinagar. After checking all the above-mentioned vehicles, were found loaded with three hundred seventy four (374) Bovine animals. These animals were kept with utmost cruelty under unhygienic conditions, without any arrangements for food and water. The bovine animals were being transported to Kashmir valley without any valid permission of the competent authority. In this regard, twenty seven (27) Cases have been got registered at Police Stations Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban, Ramsoo, Banihal and Gool, thirty (30) accused persons were booked in these cases.
All the above-mentioned vehicles were seized and all the accused persons were arrested under relevant sections of law and investigations have been set into motion.
Samba Police also foiled major bovine smuggling attempt during the intervening night of 25/26-02-2024in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and rescued forty bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines by foot viaLalaChak area of Rajpura, Police teams of Police Station
Ghagwal, Police Post Rajpura and Police Post RakhAmbTalli in a joint operation successfully foiled major bovine smuggling attempt and rescued forty bovines which were being smuggled by foot in a very cruel manner from Kathua side towards Samba side via border area. On seeing Police teams, the bovine smugglers started pelting stones on them. Police teams chased the bovine smugglers but they were successful in escaping while taking advantage of the darkness. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to safer place.
A case FIR No FIR No. 24/2024 U/S 188,336 IPC 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwaland investigation started.
