JAMMU: Amidst the political turbulence following the revocation of Article 370, the National Conference finds itself under scrutiny for its alleged alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Chief Spokesperson DPAP Salman Nizami has brought to light concerning revelations regarding the NC’s potential alliance with the BJP, echoing the silence surrounding key figures like Devender Rana and Farooq Abdullah’s statements.
As the ambiguity surrounding NC’s political stance deepens, questions arise about its motivations and alliances, especially with the abrupt breakup of the Gupkar alliance and the distancing from the PDP.
Nizami’s remarks debunking baseless claims and highlighting Ghulam Nabi Azad’s sacrifices shed light on the complexities of the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
Nizami questioned the silence surrounding former Advisor of Omar Abdullah & NC’s Provincial President Davinder Rana’s claim that NC sought an alliance with BJP post Article 370 revocation.
Nizami referenced Farooq Abdullah’s statement declaring ‘our doors are open for BJP,’ which adds to the ambiguity surrounding NC’s political stance. The abrupt breakup of the Gupkar alliance and the decision to distance themselves from the PDP further raise questions about NC’s political motivations and alliances.
Nizami said, It has been said that our chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad “begged” for a Rajya Sabha seat. We categorically deny this baseless claim.
The allocation of Rajya Sabha seats were based on the representation of MLAs, and Ghulam Nabi Azad rightfully received his share as an alliance partner with the support of Independent MLA’s Hakim Yaseen, Eng Rashid and others. Infact, Azad gave full six years to Omar Abdullah during our alliance with the National Conference.
Initially, a mutual agreement was reached to split the term, with three years allotted to the National Conference & three years to the Congress. Ghulam Nabi Azad, displaying selflessness and commitment, sacrificed his Chief Ministership for the benefit of the alliance. Azad sacrificed his Chief Ministry for Omar Abdullah. They are no one’s well-wishers.
