Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan; JU organises ‘De-Addiction Dialogue on Drugs’

JAMMU: The Community Service and Social Justice club of “Utsaah” University of Jammu during its ten day’s Multi Arts Festival “Protsaahan” on Thursday organised a De -Addiction Dialogue on Drugs under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The purpose behind the programme is to discourage the use of drugs among the youth.
Under the direction of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu, University is aiming to promote the Nasha Mukt Bhart Abhiyan.
The program was organized to promote the societal outreach vision of University of Jammu by inspiring students to utilize their energies and other resources in positive and social development.
Shakti Pathak DIG Jammu, Kathua, Samba range was the Chief Guest of the programme.
In his address, Pathak appreciated the initiative of conducting the drug De -Addiction Dialogue at the University level. He very impressively related the theme by stressing upon the word “SHE’ where Security, Health and Economy was related with drug awareness.
Harish Kumar, Asstt. Director from Narcotics Central Bureau, Jammu zone was the guest speaker.
Prof Satnam Kour, Convenor, Utsaah presented the welcome address. She apprised the audience about the various activities conducted by the different clubs during the last one year.
The resource person Harish Kumar, Assistant Director, Narcotics Central Bureau in his lecture on drug de -addiction elaborated at length on the problems, concerns and measures to be adopted to stay away from intoxicating substances.
After the presentation of the resource person, the dialogue started with a very fruitful discussion held between the students.
It is pertinent to mention that the community service and social justice club provides all space to the student volunteers to come out with their constructive ideas for serving the community.
The students presented a wonderful stage performance “Nashe Se Tauba” directed by Sumit Sharma, Drama Instructor, DSW, University of Jammu.
Prof. Suman Jawwal, Prof. Lalit Sen, Prof. Virender Koundal, Prof. Manoj Batt, Dr. Chhinmoye and staff members of the campus were present in the function.
The vote of thanks was presented by the Coordinator of the Community Service and Social Justice Club, Dr. Shashi Prabha.
The programme was conducted by Suman Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography.
Earlier on the 17th January, the Photography Club had organised a Heritage and Street photography in Mubarak Mandi and Old Jammu City.
The photography club being coordinated by Dr Pritam Singh is aiming to train the students in the techniques of photography and also educate them about using this medium for various themes and concerns. More than 50 students had participated in this photography and explored their city through the eye of the lens.
