JAMMU: J&K Men Rollball team, a formidable force in Rollball, proudly secured the gold medal in the recently concluded 20th Senior National Rollball Championship held at Belgaum (Karnataka) from January 4 to 7, 2024.
The team’s exceptional skills, dedication and unwavering determination were key factors in their triumphant journey to the top of the podium. Facing stiff competition from some of the nation’s best Rollball teams, J&K Rollball team showcased unparalleled teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the championship.
Overall 25 teams which were distributed in eight pools took part in the championship. On the way to championship, Jammu and Kashmir team defeated Punjab and Diu & Daman in league stages and in pre quarter final, it defeated Assam by 9-4, in quarter final, Jharkhand by 6-3, in semi-final it defeated UP (last year winner) by 5-3 and in all important final, it defeated Karnataka by 11 goal to 7 goals. Main scorers of the final match were Dilpreet (5 goals), Hitishwar (3 goals), Akarshan (2 goals), Rakshak (1 goal). The effort of the goal keeper of the team, Taransh Gupta was appreciated by one and all. He was declared best upcoming goal keeper of the tournament.
