JAMMU: EPFO has been striving towards effective implementation of EPF & M P Act, 1952 in J & K and Ladakh. Ongoing Power Projects employ a significant number of employees and accidental deaths have been a cause of concern for P F Commissioner. Accordingly matter was taken up with Chairman NHPC – Rajiv Vishnoi, who promptly responded and facilitated a meeting in this behalf with Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL). Accordingly Ramesh Mukhiya, M D Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL) called on P F Commissioner, Rizwan Uddin on Friday along with Manoj Verma, GM, HR, Sumit Kumar Puri, GM (Civil)for enhancing awareness and compliance with the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Miscellaneous Provisions (MP) Act, 1952. It was decided that CVPPL would review compliance of all the contractors engaged directly or as sub-contractors in various Power Projects being executed by CVPPL in J & K. Shri Saroj Kumar Sethi was accordingly designated as Nodal Officer towards specific assignment who would ensure proper compliance of all the Contractors. EPFO would also facilitate the work through awareness programmes and handholding sessions. Nidhi Apke Nikat 2.0 (NAN 2.0) would be organized in Kishtwar in association with CVPPL.
The meeting between RPFC I and MD, CVPPL highlighted the importance of not only enforcing regulations but also fostering a culture of understanding and cooperation among employers and workers. RPFC-I has also stressed for strict compliance by the defaulters contractors/sub-contractors engaged through CVPPL and further stressed on enrolling the new subscribers in the Kishtwar district and in other areas also where the CVPPL projects are going on at present.
The collaboration envisions proactive engagement through workshops, seminars, and informational sessions. Experts in EPF and MP Act will be engaged to provide valuable insights, address queries, and guide stakeholders for effective implementation. The CVPPL has requested to provide the publicity materials of EPFO for advertising them and creating awareness about the EPFO Schemes at their Project Sites.
Project Manager, M/s Patel engineering was also present in the meeting who was directed to provide details of remittances of all the contractors engaged in J& K and Ladakh to nodal Officer of CVPPL, prior to March, 2023 and thereafter.
CVPPL has also ensured that full compliance will be made by the contractors and also added that a Nodal Officer Sh. Saroj Kumar Sethi, Sr. Manager HR will be deputed who will coordinate with EPFO Nodal Officer Devinder Singh, EO/AO for raising any issues/complaints if received by the employees engaged through their contractors/sub-contractors.
Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Rizwan Uddin, explained the importance of social security in today’s scenario. He highlighted the key features of the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 and the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976. These two prominent social security schemes are being extended to workers in J&K and Ladakh from November, 2019. He also discussed the features of these schemes in detail.
