JAMMU: In light of the present weather situation and continuous dense fog in the early morning/evening hours affecting the normal life and usual traffic on roads, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu Vinay Kumar, through the medium of this advisory, appealed to the general public especially the motorists and vehicle operators of interstate/intra state /PSVs/LMVs to adhere the traffic instructions and follow the safety precautions to avoid the fatal and non-fatal accidents due to poor visibility during foggy conditions.
While speaking on the issue, SSP Traffic Rural intimated that Traffic Police Rural Jammu in coordination with NHAI have installed signages and reflectors on NHW from Lakhanpur to Bari Brahmana to guide the road commuters while driving their vehicles in the foggy conditions and otherwise to reduce the repeated accidents on NHW.
The entire exercise of installation of signages and reflectors on NHW were carried out under the supervision of DIG Traffic Range Rural Jammu Shridhar Patil, SSP said and further advised the commuters while driving any kind of vehicle in the foggy conditions, shall keep in mind to navigate the roads, remain extremely careful and follow the signages to access the navigation of the road, avoid over taking, ensure proper lane driving and set the headlights on at low beam instead of high beam.
During foggy conditions, the vehicle operators shall keep the fog lights on and maintain the speed of vehicles on sensible range as well as mind the gap between vehicles to avoid bumping/collision and saves precious human lives, he said.
