Verma Club Sahnewal, SPJ Gurgaon win in 12th Police Martyr’s NZ T-20

KATHUA: Verma Club Sahnewal and SPJ Gurgaon defeated rival team in the ongoing 12th Police Martyr’s Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Tournament, organized jointly by District Police Kathua and Shaheed Welfare Committee at Sports Stadium Kathua, here Friday.
In first match of the day, Verma Club Sahnewal outplayed Champions Chandigarh by seven wickets.
Verma Club Sahnewal team won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Champions Chandigarh scored 134 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Vijay Dogra was the main scorer with 53 runs off 46 balls studded with five boundaries and a six while Aprayal scored 15 runs off 11 balls with the help of two boundaries.
In reply, Verma Club Sahnewal easily chased the target making 135 runs for the loss of three wickets in 15.1 overs. Aditya Yadav played a fine knock of 71 runs off 37 deliveries with ten boundaries and three sixes. For his match winning inning, Aditya Yadav was declared as Man of the Match.
In another match, SPJ Gurgaon defeated JKP Kathua by six wickets.
JKP Kathua, batting first after winning the toss, scored 112 runs for the loss of ten wickets in in 17.1 overs.
Dikshant was the top scorer with 36 runs off 27 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and two sixes and Gokul made 29 runs off 24 balls with the help of one boundary and a six.
In reply, SPJ Gurgaon team easily chased the target making 113 runs for the loss of four wickets in 12.3 overs. Ankit Narwal made 30 runs off 20 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six and Yashpal scored 28 runs off 14 deliveries with three boundaries and two sixes.
Ankit Narwal was declared as Man of the Match for his splendid bowling spell of 2.1 overs in which he took three wickets while giving 19 runs.
Among others, SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, DySP Suresh Kumar, Ravinder Salathia, Manmohan Singh, were present on the occasion.
