JAMMU: In view of the 10th Muharram Procession to be carried out across Jammu city on 29th July 2023, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Jammu, Mohd Faisal Qureshi on Friday issued a traffic diversion plan on Jammu city road for medium and light motor vehicle for the smooth observance of processions besides ensuring hassle-free movement of vehicular traffic.
As per advisory, the Muharram procession will start at 1:00 PM from Anjum-e-Haidery New Plot to Ambphalla-Ambphala Jail Road-CPO Chowk-Panjtirthi-Chowk Chabutra-Peer Mitha-Lakhdatta Bazar-Rajinder Bazar-Sahidi Chowk and shall culminate at Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu Karbala Complex Wazzarat Road Jammu.
As per the Advisory, the route plan for all vehicles including PSVs, LMVs and two wheelers bound for Janipur via Ambphalla shall be diverted from Rehari colony during the movement of Procession while all vehicles coming from Sidhra Cut towards Panjtirthi shall be diverted from Batra Bus Stand towards Circular Road.
Besides, it added, all vehicles coming from Circular Roads towards DC Office, Sahidi Chowk shall be diverted towards Gujjar Nagar and coming from Vivekananda Chowk towards Raghunath Bazar shall be diverted to Shalamar Chowk via City Chowk.
“All vehicles coming from Raghunath bazar towards Shaheedi Chowk shall be diverted from Denis Gate towards Mansar Hotel-Vivekanand Chowk while traffic movement shall be restricted towards Rajinder Bazar from City Chowk and shall be diverted on other routes accordingly,” it stated and added, “All vehicles coming from Exchange Road, Civil Secretariat bound for Panjtirthi shall be diverted from Library Chowk while vehicles coming from Super Bazar/Purani Mandir shall be diverted from Hanuman Temple towards Parade and shall not be allowed to move towards Link road.” In addition to above, the advisory stated, other reasonable restrictions as per ground requirement may be applicable during the movement of procession. Meanwhile, through the medium of this release, the commuters have been requested to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the traffic authorities for the convenience of the people.
