Prostitution racket busted, 2 females among 6 arrested in Baramulla

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday busted a prostitution racket by arresting six accused persons in Baramulla district.
“Baramulla Police received information through reliable sources to the effect that some persons are involved in immoral activities in a rented house near Bus Stand Baramulla”, said a police spokesperson in a statement. Acting upon the information, a police team led by Inspector Vilayat Hussain, SHO PS Baramulla under the supervision of Altaf Ahmad, DySP Hqrs Baramulla busted the prostitution racket.
The spokesperson said that the racket was run by Lateef Ahmad Chechi, son of Mohammad Younis Chechi, resident of Malangam Bandipora (Tenant); Altaf Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, resident of Kralhar Baramulla; Khurshid Ahmad Chechi, son of Abdul Rashid Chechi, resident of Malangam Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmad Khan, son of Saifuddin Khan, resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla besides two female sex workers (names withheld) were detained.
A case FIR No.136/2023 under sections 3,4,8 of Illicit Trafficking Prevention Act has been registered at Police Station Baramulla.
The spokesperson appealed to all citizens to do tenant verification if they have given their houses, rooms or shops on rent.
