Hockey was chosen as the national game of India because of the golden age of hockey in India (1928 to 1956). During the Golden Age, India actively participated and played 24 Olympic Games. The most surprising fact was that it won all the matches by scoring 178 goals. It won gold medals in the Tokyo Olympics (1964) and the Moscow Olympics (1980).
Now the Indian women hockey team lead by Preeti created history by defeating four-time champions South Korea in the final of the Junior Women’s Asia Cup. At the same time, with the victory in the semi-finals, the Indian team also qualified for the Junior World Cup. The Junior World Cup will be held in Chile from 29 November to 10 December this year.
