Mushroom cultivation all set to revolutionise farming sector

SRINAGAR: Mushroom production is at set its all-time high across Jammu and Kashmir due to Agriculture Departments efforts in bringing the best methods and providing technical know -how to become new age agricultural entrepreneurs. The Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal inaugurated a Hi-tech poly house and two mushroom units at Rawalpora, ub-division Tangmarg district Baramulla on Wednesday. Speaking to farmers of different areas of the sub-division Director Agriculture said that department is working on an ambitious plan of providing farmers with round the year availability of seedlings of different vegetable crops. Director Agriculture highlighted the Importance of integrated farming and asked the farmers to diversify their agriculture operations. Director asked the concerned officers to guide the farmers during their preparation of paddy nurseries and during the pre and post harvest operations of oil seed (Mustard) crop. He asked the farmers that department would provide all the technical assistance to them in comprehensively performing their agriculture activities. Director Agriculture appreciated their role in agriculture sector and asked them to work as torch bearers for the educated youth of Valley.
