Traditional fervour marks Baisakhi celebrations at JKPS Kunjwani

JAMMU: Baisakhi is a vibrant festival, traditionally celebrated across North India. It symbolizes the season of change when the old is gone and the new & fresh energize.
JK Public School Kunjwani celebrated Baisakhi and Dr. B.R Ambedkar Jayanti with enthusiasm, zeal and traditional fervour. The whole environment reverberated with excitement. The festival of harvest was celebrated to acquaint the students with Punjabi culture and traditions. Misthi, incharge of the event talked of the importance of Baisakhi and also talked about Dr Bhim Rao Babasaheb Ambedkar, the father of Indian Constitution, whose birthday falls on this day. Nirush apprized about the advent of harvest time and its value. The religious significance of this festival goes back to the year 1699, when Guru Govind Singh, Tenth Sikh Guru established the ‘Khalsa Panth’. The foot tapping beats of ‘Gidda’ and ‘Bhangra’ rented the air. The Principal Rajesh Rathore, in his speech, greeted all the children and their parents on this occasion and talked about the versatile character of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar who he called as a power house of knowledge with profound knowledge in 64 diversified subjects and 11 languages. Quoting the example of Dr. Ambedkar, he highlighted the importance of education. “A child who was subjected to untouchability & lived a very tough childhood, rose to the rank of a scholar & one of the most learned personalities of his time. Education is a great saviour. It has transformed dreams of countless people into reality. We must follow the ideals and teachings of this great man to live a fulfilling life”, he concluded.
Director, Shashi Chaudhary emphasised on fundamentals rights in the Indian Constitution and advised the students to value them. She applauded all the paeticipants and teachers for putting up a brilliant cultural show depicting the ethos of the festival. Programme concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
