Jammu Girl Harleen to represent India in Asia Cup Softball C’ship

JAMMU: Ace Softball player from Jammu, Harleen Kour will represent India in Asia Cup (Women) Softball Championship to be held at LNG Sports Town, Incheon, Korea from April 2 to 8, 2023.
Student of Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani, Jammu, Harleen started playing Softball at the age of thirteen and began her Softball career from Inter-School and District Level competitions and then participated in a galaxy of National School Games and other National Championships organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and Softball Federation of India. Now, she is all set to be part of Indian National Women Softball team to represent the country in the International Softball Championship at Korea.
Asia Cup (Women) Softball Championship at Korea will also be the qualifying event for World Cup (Women) Softball Championship 2023 if India figures in top two teams in Asia Cup (Women) Softball Championship Korea 2023. Harleen was selected during the trials at Indore, Madhya Pradesh in February, 2023.
Waseem Raja Khan, General Secretary J&K Softball Association has congratulated Harleen for her selection in the Indian National Women team.
“The felicitation ceremony for Harleen and her Coach Harvinder Singh and other outstanding Softball players who have represented India at various International Softball Championships will be held after Harleen returns from the prestigious event,” said Waseem Raja. He also requested budding Softball players of Jammu and Kashmir to opt this potential Olympic sport of Softball (which is presently being played in 134 countries around the world) as a career option.
Waseem accredited success of Softball to sheer-dint of hardwork by the players and tremendous support by Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul.
Indian Women Softball team will leave on March 31, 2023 from Delhi to Korea.
