SRINAGAR: Acting tough against drug dealings, Police arrested 5 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
As per details, a police party from Police Post Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Dattpora Awantipora intercepted two suspects, who were identified as Rayees Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Dawood Bhat, both residents of Reshipora, Awantipora. During checking, officers recovered 14 Kg Poppy Straw from their possession. Both the accused were arrested on the spot and shifted to Police Station Awantipora, where they remained under custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 199/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, Sopore Police also arrested 3 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession. As per details, a police party from Police Post Watergam at a checkpoint established at Behrampora Rafiabad intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05A 5882 with three persons onboard, who were identified as Shabir Ahmad Zarger, resident of Behrampora; Mehrajudin Wani, resident of Sumbal Bandipora and Feroz Ahmad Dar, resident of Mujgund Shalteng. During checking, 18 gm brown sugar was recovered from their possession. The accused were arrested and shifted to Police Station Dangiwacha, where they remained under custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 152/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated.
