J&K Housing Board retrieves encroached land in Kathua

JAMMU: Acting on instructions of Managing Director, J&K Housing Board (JKHB), Mohd Shahid Saleem Dar, a team of officials from Housing Board with active co-operation of Revenue and Police Department, removed encroachments from Housing Board land in village Changran in Kathua on Monday.
The encroacher namely Partap Singh, son of Late Dharam Chand, resident of Village Rakh Sarkar Plain Tehsil & District Kathua had erected poles with barbed wires at Chan Gran Housing Colony, Kathua for encroaching the land. The removal of encroachment was a day-long process in which 14 employees from J&K Housing Board, two from Revenue Department and 15 from Police participated. Besides, 10 labourers and a JCB was also put into service to remove encroachments. Total expenditure incurred by J&K Housing Board in removing encroachments was about Rs 95,500, which include one-day salary of employees (including DA) who were put on job to remove encroachments, payment made to labourers, hiring of JCB and Petrol/Diesel of Housing Board vehicles deployed for the purpose etc.
The Managing Director, J&K Housing Board (JKHB), in an official communication, has requested Deputy Commission Kathua to recover an amount of Rs 95,500 from encroacher namely Partap Singh as arrears of land revenue and same be deposited in official account of J&K Housing Board bearing A/c No. 1356 in J&K Bank, Branch Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
