JAMMU: Parents of around 50 young players presently held up at Youth Hostel, Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar have asked the government, especially the Ministry of Sports, to make effort for early return of their wards.
Worried about the well being of young under-19 boys and girls staying at Srinagar from 2nd September in connection with inter-district State level competitions in different events, including judo and wrestling, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), these parents on Sunday called on the Minister for Sports, Raman Bhalla.
Minister, after hearing the parents, assured them of appropriate measures to bring the players back to their homes at the earliest.
“Parents of these young boys and girls are a worried lot, especially after the flood waters entered the residential localities. They have met the Sports Minister today and an assurance has been given for players’ early return,” Judo Coach of the State Sports Council, Suraj Bhan Singh told.
