May Day: CITU holds rally, asks workers to remain united

JAMMU: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Tuesday held a rally on the eve of May Day.
It extended revolutionary greetings and solidarity to the working class and toiling masses.
Large numbers of workers from different sectors carrying banners, placards and shouting slogans in favour of their demands assembled at Exhibition Ground, here.
While addressing the workers Om Parkash, General Secretary, J&K state CITU said the working class all over the world cannot forget the revolutionary sacrifices and achievements of the heroic struggle of 1886 in Chicago.
He said May Day struggle resulted in achieving the right of the workers for 8 hours working day and the rest 16 hours of the day for rest, cultural activities and for their family life.
He calls upon the entire working class of the state, irrespective of their trade union affiliation to come to the common platform to fight against anti-workers policies of the government.
Sham Parshad Kesar, Senior CITU leader said that the Modi led government at the Centre is pampering the national and multinational corporations and big business houses with bonanzas.
At the same time the vast majority of workers and the peasants who produce wealth expending their sweat and blood are being pushed into slavery, he said.
Pawan Gupta and Ramesh Chand, the senior leaders of Northern Zones Insurance Employees Association and Ramesh Bhat Vice President of CITU while addressing the gathering express their serious concerns over the price rise, unemployment and corruption in the country.
Ganesh Sahani, Ashok Kumar, Sunita Bhagat, Jagdish Shrma and Om Parkash also spoke on the occasion.
