KATHUA: National Conference OBC Cell on Sunday assailed the PDP-BJP Government for failing on all fronts, adding that the promises made to people, especially weaker sections of the society have proven to be hoax.
“The government has failed on all fronts and lack of political will and direction has made the administration rudderless, as a result of which governance is at its lowest ebb”, the Co-Chairperson Abdul Gani Teli said while addressing workers here this afternoon.
He expressed concern over the erratic power and drinking water supply across the Kathua District and asked the government must awake from its deep slumber and take steps on war-footing to ensure regulated utility services.
Referring to the issues pertaining to OBCs, Teli said that the government is non-serious in addressing these, despite representations made with regard to issuance of one-time category certificates and enhancement in the income slab for eligibility.
He also sought due representation to the OBCs in various boards and adequate funds for their empowerment at district and block levels.
He said political empowerment and economic emancipation of OBCs is imperative for harmonious growth of the society.
State Vice President Th Kashmira Singh recalled the initiatives taken by National Conference from time to time in ameliorating the lot of poor and weaker sections of the society.
He referred in details the measures taken for welfare of the OBCs by the National Conference and lamented that these had been diluted by the present dispensation.
Singh referred to the revolutionary Land Reforms Act brought by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah making the weaker sections of the society masters of land holdings overnight and said this was a game changer for the exploited segments of farmers.
He sought peoples support to the party, saying National Conference alone can steer the State from the present morass and lead it to peace and prosperity.
