Region celebrates Holi with religious fervour

BHADARWAH: Holi festival was celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety across Chenab Valley and people remained busy in sprinkling colours on each other. The people from early hours especially youth were seen in groups sprinkling colours on each other in streets, parks, bazaars and road sides.
While enjoying the celebration of this auspicious festival, they were dancing to the beating of drums and greeting each other with offering sweets.
The public transport was off the roads mostly as every body was busy in celebrating the Holi. “People threw colours and got their targets completely coloured up. It is like a water fight, but with coloured water,” said Rajan Manhas from Bhadarwah.
At Bhadarwah, a special function on this occasion was organised at historical Seri Bazaar Bhadarwah, where a large number of people thronged to participate in the mega celebrations.
President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Ved Kumar Kotwal, SDPO Brijesh Sharma, SHO Munir Khan and others were also present on the occasion where they greeted people on this auspicious occasion of Holi festival.
“To thwart any untoward incident, elaborate security arrangements were made in and around Bhadarwah town,” said SHO Bhadarwah Munir Khan adding that we have deployed extra columns of police, JKAP and CRPF at all locations.
According to reports, Holi festival was also celebrated in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Batote, Drabshala, Bhallessa, Gandoh, Nagseni, Chinta, Bhalra and Thathri areas of Chenab Valley with full religious fervour and enthusiasm.
VIJAYPUR: Ashok Kumar, JKPS Principal Police Technical Training Institute Vijaypur celebrated Holi with trainees and staff organised friendly volleyball match. Principal himself participated in the match. Staff and trainees enjoyed the game. While speaking on the occasion Ashok said that a get together had been organised with a view that the trainees who are here from the different corners of the State do not feel loneliness on this occasion, being away from their family members.
Inspr. Puran Singh, Inspr. Hemanshu Sunil Mahajan, Inspr. Rajesh Kumar, were present on the occasion.
