jammu: Involving the army in Shopian case to appease a particular segment of Kashmir population has emboldened the enemies of nation to such an extent that they are targeting the forces, including police, at will.
The long rope given to Shopian stone-pelters by not taking any cognizance against them has been responded by killing of two policemen in Chrar and at the residence of a Hurriyat separatist. This should open up the eyes of Director General of Police, who need to explain what action has been taken in these two incidents. The opinion leaders ask questions over the role of top police hierarchy, asking whether they approve of the olive branch being offered to perpetrators of violence by the political dispensation.
Rajveer Manhas, President Yuva Rajput Sabha said that the registration of FIR against armed forces is the failure of government, which instead of strengthening Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), is boosting the morale of stone pelters.
“Not a single case was registered against stone pelters, who are the main culprits of the Shopian firing incident. It’s is very unfortunate for the people of Jammu region that the government has given amnesty to stone pelters after succumbing to the pressure of separatists and people of Kashmir Valley. In view of present scenario and terrorist attack on historical mosque in Srinagar, the government should give more powers and free hand to the security forces to deal with the situation”, he demanded.

Rohit Sudan from Udhampur criticised the State Government, especially Director General Police Dr S P Vaid for registering an FIR against army personnel, who are working in the Kashmir Valley against all odds.
“A segment of people in Kashmir Valley always create hurdles in the working of security personnel by pelting stones and sheltering terrorists. While supporting anti national elements, they simply forget the sacrifices made by security forces during natural calamities like flash floods in 2014 to rescue them from the crisis and rehabilitate them. The people of Kashmir Valley should support the army personnel who are real saviors of the nation”, he said demanding immediate withdrawal of the aforesaid FIR registered against Major Aditya Kumar to boost the morale of armed forces.

Des Raj, social worker from Udhampur strongly criticized the police for registering a false and frivolous FIR against the army personnel in the Kashmir Valley for its personal motives. He particularly wondered over the double-speak of the DGP by downplaying naming of the army in the FIR.
“Instead of registering FIR against stone pelters and anti-national elements, who had damaged army vehicles, the police has falsely implicated the security forces”, he said adding that Government should tighten the noose on stone pelters by taking stern action whenever they create hurdle in the working of army personnel. He appealed to the government to withdraw the FIR filed against all army personnel in the Kashmir Valley failing which the people of Jammu have no other option but to come on roads.

Harish Gupta, a senior citizen, while condemning the registration of FIR against Major Aditya Kumar, said that government should stop favouring the separatists who are always advocating for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and speaking against the security forces working in the Kashmir Valley. It’s a propaganda launched by some anti-national elements in the Kashmir Valley to always counter the security forces by leveling false allegations on them. Claiming that FIR against Major Aditya Kumar is not justified as AFSPA provides immunity to army personnel in J&K, he demanded immediate withdrawal of the aforesaid FIR.

Mool Raj, social worker from Udhampur said the government has not learnt any lessons from the recent attacks in the Kashmir Valley even on police also. Killing of two policemen in Chrar and the residence of a Hurriyat separatist should be eye opener for the DGP. He said terrorists strike at their will and it is the Indian Army which is securing the people of Kashmir Valley in general and whole of the country in particular by their dedicated endeavours. Seeking withdrawal of FIR against Major Aditya Kumar, he urged the Union Government to give free hand to the armed forces to fight insurgency and terrorism. “Once army is given full powers no one can dare to throw a single stone on its men”, he asserted.
