Population explosion

0 70

Dear Editor,
The rapidly growing population is one the major problems faced by India now a days. Along with it there are other major problems faced by our country such as corruption, black money, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and many other. These problems are somehow correlated with each other. Persons are means as well as ends of economic development. They are an asset if in adequate strength and prove to be a liability if excess in strength. Population has crossed the optimum limit in India and has become a liability. So problem of population explosion in India has proved to be a big hindrance in the success of economic planning and development. Rapidly growing population has become a serious issue in India. The population of India has grown rapidly because birth rate in India is higher than the death rate. With improved medical facilities and access to hospital, medicines, the death rate is going down. Human life expectancy also increased in India in the last couple of decades. The big percentage of India still doesn’t do a proper family planning especially in the rural areas where the 70 per cent of the population lives. Moreover, India is also facing the illegal immigration problem, a large number of immigrants, refugees come from neighboring countries like Nepal and Bangladesh which aggravates the situation further. This burning issue of rising population is also associated with various issues confronting the nation such as unemployment, poverty, overcrowding of cities, shortage of food grains, low standard of living, environmental problems etc. The problem of population can be solved only by creating awareness and educating the people to control birthrates.
