DSS honours women achievers, demands action against Pakistan

JAMMU: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) on Wednesday organised a function to honour the women achievers of the Dogra region.
The participating women took a serious note of the closure of schools in the villages on the international border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) due to cross border firing by Pakistan.
They urged the government to organise coaching for the children who are not able to attend schools due to border firing.
They also called for special placement/ recruitment drive for these children besides favourable consideration for exams after the disturbed academic session.
They called for concerted and strong punitive action against Pakistan to teach a lasting lesson to the wicked terrorist country.
The DSS along with the invited women achievers resolved to make this event an annual feature and build it as a platform for the women to voice and address their aspirations.
Gulchain Singh Charak, President DSS and former Minister said that with rampant corruption, injustice and discrimination now ruling the roost, it is time for Dogra women to incarnate as saviours of Dharma for destruction of all the evils spreading in the society.
The programme started with lighting of traditional lamp by Gulchain Singh Charak , Dr Nirmal Kamal, Seema Anil Sehgal, Sheetal Rajput, Vijay Kotwal, Maj Gen Sunita Kapoor (Retd) , Sheetal Nanda and Prof Anita Bilawaria.
Children of Rich Harvest School presented Vandana and Tanvi recited Shlokas. A Dogri Bhaint by Shamsher Mohammad and party was applauded by the audience.
Prof Anita Billawaria presented the welcome address .
Renowned singer Seema Anil Sehgal presented a Dogri song while Madhvi along with Ravi Kant anchored the programme. Musical items were also presented by Slathia brothers and Asha Kesar.
The event also included the release of the new DSS logo by dignitaries, details of which were explained by the DSS media convener Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, VrC. A total of 50 meritorious women were honoured by presentation of mementoes and ‘chunnis’.
Vice president DSS Col Karan Singh read out the resolutions and presented the vote of thanks.
The prominent Dogra women achievers who were honoured include Vijay Kotwal, Sheetal Nanda, Sunita Kapoor, Babila Rakwal, Seema Anil Sehgal, Sheetal Rajput, Seema Shekhar, Anjali Sharma, Reeta Jatinder, Veena Rajput, Babita, Savita Bakshi, Prof. Dr Posh Charak, Dr Sunanda Raina and Asha Kesar.
