Saroori expresses solidarity with flood sufferers; visits Soura hospital
SRINAGAR: Congress MLA Inderwal, G.M Saroori on Friday expressed his solidarity with the flood victims and has condoled the loss of life in the floods which have claimed many lives in Jammu and Kashmir regions. He prayed to the Almighty to grant them the strength to withstand the immense loss.
“It is really tragic what has happened in the Jammu and Kashmir and I am deeply grieved and shocked to learn of the tragic loss of life and property caused due to heavy rainfall, flash-floods, floods and landslides,” Saroori said.
Saroori also visited the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, (SKIMS) Soura and interacted with the injured in flash flood and patients from Kishtwar and Doda districts and assured them all necessary assistance from the government. He asked the doctors about the status of patients and directed them to extend best possible medicare to them.
Telephonically Saroori also directed the DDC Kishtwar Mohd Javed Khan and DDC Doda Shyam Vinod Meena to monitor the situation on constant basis and put men and machinery into service so that the people living in various low lying areas of erstwhile Doda District do not face any inconvenience in view of any eventuality. He directed them to activate the Disaster Management Units in the districts to make access of people to administration easy in this hour of need.
Saroori asked the DDC Kishtwar and DDC Doda to deploy rapid action rescue teams in all vulnerable areas especially those threatened by rising Chenab River, nallahs besides take necessary measures so that the water logging can be stopped. He asked them to ensure the supply of essential commodities including fuel, ration, safe drinking water and electricity in both the twin districts.
Saroori also called upon the State Government to assess the vast damage caused as soon as possible so that a relief-package could be considered.
