CJ issues directions for providing relief to judicial officers in flood-hit area
JAMMU: Seeing the worsening flood situation in Srinagar Chief Justice M.M Kumar, asked the Registrar General of High Court Suresh Sharma to immediately take the matter with administration for providing the required help urgently to the officers, advocates and other stranded persons in the area.
Request has also been made to rescue Madan Lal, Sub Judge, Bijbehara immediately. The administration in turn was requested by the Registrar General to provide all the required help to them immediately.
Chief Justice also appreciated the courageous effort of Judges, staff and Advocates to save the valuable records of the Courts.
The courts, residential quarters, Judges, Staff, Advocates have been worst affected in incessant rains, which have caused havoc in the State.
An alarming situation has arisen in Anantnag and Pulwama which have been worst hit in the Kashmir Valley. Some Courts in these Districts have badly been inundated with flood water. The ground floor in Court Complex at Anantnag has been flooded severely. Judges themselves are stranded in the Court complex. However, the valuable record of Courts could be salvaged by valiant efforts of Judges and Staff, who carried the same to first floor of the Courts to protect it from getting damaged.
While, at Bijbehara, Sub Judge, Madan Lal, and his staff salvaged the Court record, at their own personal risk. Ironically, the Judge himself is stranded in the first floor of his residential quarter, frantically waiting for his evacuation. JNF
