NPP to launch hunger strike if discrimination in employment not ended

UDHAMPUR: Expressing deep anguish over the continuous neglect in employment sector with the youth of Jammu region, ex-MLA and NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia threatened the PDP-BJP Coalition Government that if biased attitude towards highly educated youth is not ended, party would launch a hunger strike in Jammu.

A large number of NPP workers led by State President Balwant Singh Mankotia held a protest at Salathia Chowk and burnt the effigy of State Government against the continuous discrimination with the youth of Jammu region in employment sector.

While addressing the protestors, Mankotia made a scathing attack on PDP-BJP Coalition Government for its failure and biased approach towards the educated youth of Jammu region. He threatened the Coalition Government that if equal share in government jobs would not be given to educated youth of Jammu region, party leaders will sit on hunger strike in Jammu. NPP workers raised anti-government slogans during the protests and burnt the effigy of the PDP-BJP Coalition Government.

He demanded that government should abolish the SRO 202 and provide full salary to the youth joining government job rather than half salary for five years and appoint them as permanent employee in various departments.

Mankotia also termed the SOR 520 as an eyewash and blamed that Govt has deceived the temporary/daily wager employees and asked the government to make amendments in the said SRO and regularise them as permanent employees and provide the due salary.

Dhani Ram Attri, Rampal Bhagat, Manjeet Singh, Jagdev Singh Jagga, Tirentar Singh, Amit Sharma, Tarun Chauhan, Soni Rathore, Sushil Kumar and Madan Lal were also present on the occasion.
