JAMMU: Hosts University of Jammu (JU) men beat MGU Kottayam 13-03 to keep their hopes alive in the All India Inter-University Rollball (men and women) Tournament 2017-18 organised by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu. The match was played at the MA Stadium, here on Thursday.
Rakshak Jandial, Brigu Sharma and Arjun Dev Jamwal were the main contributors to the JU tally. In other scheduled match, Anna University Chennai beat Gandhigram Rural Institute Deemed University Tamil Nadu 11-03. Athul Suresh, K Vishnu and K Chander Kumar scored two goals each from winning side.
The ITM Gwalior also won their match played against formidable side of MDU Rohtak making it 4-3. In another scheduled match, Devi Ahliya Unversity Indore lost to University of Kerala 1-2.
Meanwhile, in women section, Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University Pune outplayed Devi Ahliya University Indore 9-2. Anjali Nair of Pune scored highest five goals for the winning side.
Earlier, during the day, Vice Chancellor, JU, Prof. RD Sharma visited the venue and interacted with the teams. He was accompanied by organising secretary and Director Sports, JU, Prof. Avtar Singh Jasrotia.
