One year jail term awarded to 2 thieves

JAMMU: Munsiff Jammu Aarti Devi on Thursday awarded one year imprisonment to Hira Lal, son Dharam Pal and Sonu Kumar, son of Valayati Ram, both residents of village Dhiyaran District Jammu.
According to the prosecution case, on the written complaint received on March 10, 2008 by complainant namely Shamsher Singh alleging that in the intervening night of 9/10 March 2008 some persons broke the locks of his shop and stole Rs. 28,000 and recharge cards of BSNL worth Rs. 10,000 and also stole a small TV Brand Victor 764 from the shop of Davinder Kumar prosecution witness, thereby committing offence under Sections 457 and 380 RPC.
The court after hearing CPO Ashish Rathore with PO Siddarth Thakur for the State observed that prosecution has succeeded in proving the guilt of the accused persons resulting in conviction of the accused persons of the charges under Section 380 RPC and sentence of one year simple imprisonment is imposed upon each of accused person.
Apart from it, a fine of Rs. 5000 is also inflicted upon each of them in default of which an additional imprisonment of 10 days is imposed.
