NSS Special Winter Camp by GDC, Kathua gets underway

Kathua: The third day of the NSS Special Winter Camp organised by NSS units of Govt. Degree College, Kathua in Upper Primary School of the adopted village Chak Ram Chand  began with the morning assembly. After morning assembly Resource Person   Champa Sharma, CDPO, Barnoti from Department of ICDS delivered a lecture on the various schemes and other activities of the department that are beneficial to the people from rural areas. She gave information regarding antenatal and postnatal care for pregnant women, immediate diagnosis and care for new born children and nursing mothers and immunisation. She also gave important information regarding various Govt. schemes such as Ladali Beti, Sabla, marriage assistance schemes recently launched for the welfare of poor and needy. Another lecture was delivered by Legal Officer Surabhi Abrol from ICPS. She discussed various issues related to child labour and its ill effects. She spoke on the various regulations made by government  to reform the delinquent juveniles. A large number of people along with NSS volunteers participated in the awareness lectures. In the evening session a senior NSS Volunteer Jasbir Singh who is also a recipient of  Indira Gandhi national NSS Award 2016-17 shared his experiences with the volunteers. He also motivated volunteers to render  selfless service to the community.
