KC Sports Club beat Singh Club Akhnoor in opening tie

JAMMU: KC Sports Club won the opening match of fifth edition of Christmas T20 Cricket Cup being jointly organised by Christian Sports Organisation, Jammu and Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu with the slogan ‘Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs’ at Parade Ground, here.
In the inaugural match, KC Sports Club defeated Singh Club Akhnoor by the big margin of 128 runs.
Batting first, KC Sports scored 161 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Hasim played a match winning inning of 74 runs followed by Shubam Khajuria and Arjun Choudhary, who added 32 and 21 runs respectively to the total. For Singh Club, Sunil claimed three wickets while Raghu and Ankush shared two wickets each.
In reply, Singh Club Akhnoor was bundled out for mere 38 runs. Only two batsmen reach double figure while seven batsmen did not open their account.
For KC Sports Club, Shubam and Vishal shared four wickets each while Nitin and Aman took one each.
For his all-round performance, Shubam Khajuria was adjudged as Man of the Match.
In Under-10 Exhibition Match played on opening day, Jammu Budding Red defeated Jammu Budding Blues by 11 runs.
Batting first, Jammu Red scored 94 runs for the loss of three wickets. Dhruv with 40, Parmeet 14 and Ayush with 7 runs were the main scorers. For Jammu Blues, Udit took one wicket while other two batsmen were run out.
In reply, Jammu Blue managed to score 83 runs thus lost the match by 11 runs. Neel, Aryan Bakshi and Rudhar were the main scorers with 23, 19 and 17 runs respectively. For Jammu Red, Dhruv claimed one wicket. Dhruv was declared Man of the Match for his all-round display.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Saleem ur Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Ashok, Sandeep and Vinod.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by the Chief Guest Dr. S.D Singh, IGP Jammu in the presence of Fr. Kuriakose Chairman CSO, Yudhveer Sethi Senior BJP leader, Vivek Gupta SSP Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, Rajesh Sharma SSP, R.K Bhat SSP, Desh Rattan Dubey Joint Secretary JKCA, S.M Gill ex-MLC, Vinod Kumar SP City Jammu, Ramesh Kotwal SP Headquarters, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Oficer (Organising Secretary), Vikas Sharma Manager Federal Bank, Vinod Kumar Divisional Manager Canara Bank, Rashpal Bhagat Manager Canara Bank, Jathin K. Subarimanium Branch Manager South Indian Bank Jammu, Abu Thomson Assistant Manager South Indian Bank, Vijay Saberwal President Parade Sports Association, R.P Singh, Victor Sotra, Asif Gill, David Mattoo, Sunny Gill William Mattoo and Navin (members of CSO).
The tournament is being supported by Diocese of J and K and sponsored by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank and Canara bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr S.D Singh said that Christmas is the occasion of great festivity and happiness so we all should celebrate the festival together.
He also gave message to the youths and youngsters to remain away from drugs and stay healthy.
Ranjeet Kalra wished that cricketers of J&K may find place in Indian Team. R.P Singh conducted the proceedings of the inaugural ceremony.
FIXTURE: Shastri Club versus Aditi Welfare Trust XI on 9:30 AM and Media XI versus Vishal Club at 12:30 PM.
