SCA T20: Nikhal Club Kathua wins in opening tie

KATHUA: Nikhal Cricket Club Kathua won the opening match of the State Cricket Academy (SCS) T20 Cricket Tournament being organised by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, here on Tuesday.
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Player and Member Sports Council Jammu.
In the inaugural match, Nikhal Club Kathua defeated Hannu Club Nagri by seven wickets.
Batting first, Hannu Club scored 70 for the loss of ten wickets in 15.3 overs. Pushap with 26 and Udhay Veer 14 runs were the top scorers.
For Nikhal Club, Munish grabbed four wickets while Sudaam took two.
In reply, Nikhal Club comfortably chased the target in 12.3 overs for the loss of three wickets. Nikhal Khajuria played a fine inning of unbeaten 43 runs and Nikhal Sharma chipped in 12 runs.
For Hannu Club, Pushap claimed two wickets while Romi picked one. Nikhal was adjudged as Man of the Match.
Today’s match was officiated by the technical panel including Master Mohan, Tarsem Sharma, Parveen Singh and Kulbushan Singh.
Earlier, the Chief Guest, Subash Bhardwaj, District Sports Officer Kathua inaugurated the tournament. He, while interacting with the players, appreciated their enthusiasm and spirit for cricket.
He appealed to the Sports Council to conduct more such tournaments for youths in Kathua District.
Giving details, Rajesh Gill said that the cash prizes of the championship include Rs. 50,000 for winner, Rs. 30,000 for runner-up, Rs. 5,000 for Man of the Series, Rs. 2,000 for best batsman, best bowler, best all-rounder and Rs. 500 for Man of the Match in all matches.
