STATE TIMES NEWS
NEW DELHI: Union Minister and BJP Seh-Prabhari (Co-Incharge) of Gujarat Assembly election, Dr Jitendra Singh said “Our regular rebuttal on day-to-day basis to the daily questions put by the Congress team handling Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter handle has finally forced them to withdraw the tweet put up this morning as Question No. 7, pertaining to GST and addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.
With just last three days left for electioneering in the industrially sensitive town of Surat , where the campaign comes to an end on 7th evening, Dr Jitendra Singh said, as pointed out earlier, the tweets put up as questions by Rahul Gandhi’s team are not only devoid of evidence or facts, but are also composed in a High School idiom.
The same applies to this morning’s tweet which related to GST and as a medium of expression, used the parody of a Hindi film song. Soon after the error in the projected data of the tweet was pointed out, Rahul Gandhi’s team hurriedly withdrew the tweet, thus also vindicating the common opinion that they still need to go a long way to learn the nuances of economics as well as the interpretation of statistical data.
Dr Jitendra Singh pointed out that while tweet representing question No.5 made a laughing stock of itself by crying hoarse about the safety of women in Gujarat without citing a single incident to prove so, the tweet representing question No.6 referring to supposed unemployment in Gujarat was also effectively rebutted by the authenticated figures put up by us to show that that maximum average unemployment rate in Gujarat stood much lower in comparison to other States with never having crossed 0.9% vis-a-vis the national average of 5%.
However, Rahul Gandhi’s team did not give up its misadventure and today again tweeted question no. 7 with erratic figures to show the prices of common commodities like pulses, onions, tomatoes and milk before and after the implementation of GST. It also sought to include some of the such products in its list which are out of the purview of GST. But our prompt rebuttal succeeded in compelling Rahul Gandhi’s team to withdraw the tweet, he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that some of the election campaign programmes in and around Surat had been deferred today on account of the alert sounded about the possibility of a cyclone. He appreciated that some of the contesting candidates of the party have themselves volunteered to suspend campaigning for the day and instead make themselves available for assistance or help, if required, in the event of cyclone.
As the day of polling draws closer, stated Dr Jitendra Singh, the BJP position is becoming more and more consolidated, even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled rally in Surat city tomorrow has been deferred on account of bad weather conditions.
