Woman among 14 arrested with narcotics

JAMMU: 14 drug peddlers including a woman were arrested on Tuesday and heroin, cannabis and poppy were seized from them in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

According to report, a party of City Police during Naka checking at Indira Chowk (Near SMGS Hospital) intercepted one Santro Car (JK03A 2196) with two occupants. During checking, police recovered 1.2 kg Charas from their possession.
The accused have been identified Abdul Rashid, son of Gulam Hussain, resident of Shopian and Mushtaq Ahmed Bha, son of Abdul Razaq, resident of Shopian. In this regard, a case vide FIR No 65/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station City Jammu.
The arrest was made by SI Vishal Dogra Incharge Police Post SMGS and Inspector Vishal Sharma, SHO City under the close supervision of Varun Jandial, SDPO City North Jammu and Vinod Kumar, SP City North Jammu.
Meanwhile, a party of Gangyal Police Station during a Naka at Gangyal Chowk intercepted one Scooty (JK02AX-2666) which was coming from Dashmesh Nagar towards Gangyal.
During checking, police recovered 10 Kg poppy straw from the possession of Scooty rider. The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Sartaj Singh alias Taza, son of Balwant Singh, resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana, Tehsil and district Jammu.
In this regard case FIR No 92/2017 under Sections 8 and 15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gangyal.
The arrest was made by Sl Nayat Ali, SHO Gangyal under the close supervision of SDPO City South Jammu, Mohammed Rafiq Mannas and SP South, Sandeep Choudhary.

A police team intercepted two persons at Mughal Maidan area in Kishtwar district and recovered 1.10 kg of cannabis from their possession last evening, police officials said.

Both persons were arrested and a case has been registered, they said.

In another incident, a police team seized 90 grams of heroin from two alleged drug peddlers at Jewel chowk in Jammu, they said, adding that a case has been registered against the accused.

Also, acting on a specific information, police team intercepted a truck on the highway at Jajjar Kotli in Jammu district and recovered 25 kg of poppy from it, they said.

Though the truck driver managed to flee the spot, the truck has been seized and a case has been registered in this connection, police said.

Meanwhile, after developing specific information Surinder Choudhary SDPO R S Pura conducted raid in old Deewangarh near poultry farm (PS R S Pura) and recovered about 9 Kg of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) from Jarnail Singh alias Jaila son of Kartar Singh which he was selling among youngsters. After seeing cops customers managed to fled from spot  and Jarnail Singh tried to hide Bhukki under nearby dump of dry grass. A case FIR-279/17 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered against him in Police Station R S Pura.

In another incident, a joint party of SOG and Poonch Police  led by Ajay Jamwal SHO Police Station Poonch arrested a pedestrian namely Qamar Din son of Amar Din resident of Hari Buddha and recovered heroin weighing around  540 grams from his possession.  A case vide FIR No 176 /17 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station  Poonch.

Udhampur Police also recovered 6 grms of contraband substance (chitta) from a narcotics smuggler near Barrian, Udhampur.

As per the details, While conducting surprise  checking of vehicles near Barrian, a party of Police Station Udhampur led by Inspr. Sanjeev Gupta  under the supervision of Sh. Kameshwar Puri, Dy.SP  Hqrs. Udhampur stopped one suspected person at Barrian  Udhampur. The said person was taken into custody and during checking of said person namely Ranbir Singh (Rambo) son of Jasbir singh  resident of Barrian Udhampur, 6 gms of contraband substance (Chitta)  was recovered from his possession. The said accused was arrested  and a case vide FIR No.561 /2017 under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur.

Similarly, a party of Police Station Bari Brahmana during a Naka checking at Balole Bridge, Bari Brahmana intercepted one Car (CH03W/0475) with two occupants. Police recovered 13.6 grams of heroin from their possession. Police arrested both of them who were identified as Dimple Devi, daughter of Raj Kumar, resident of Rakh Arnia, Tehsil Arnia, district Jammu and Gurdeep Singh, son of Pritam Singh, resident of Pandat Sant Ram Wali Gali, Mehna Chowk, Zeerath, Bathinda Punjab.
In this regard, a case FIR No 220/2017 under Sections 8,21 and 22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana.
The arrest was made by Inspector Mahesh Sharma, SHO Bari Brahmana under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana, Usman Choudhary, Additional SP Samba and SSP Samba Anil Magotra.
In another case, a party of Police Station Bari Brahmana led by Inspector Mahesh Sharma during a Naka checking at Reore Chowk, Bari Brahmana Police intercepted one scooter (JK02N/0488).
During checking, police recovered seven grams heroin from the possession of Scooterist and the pillion rider. The drug peddlers have been identified as Sitaar Hussain, son of Rehmat Ali and Dil Mohammad, son of Sadiq Ahmed both residents of Deeli Sainik Colony.
In this regard, case FIR No 221/2017 under Sections 8, 21 and 22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana.
