NC pays rich tribute to Sheikh Mohd Abdullah

JAMMU: National Conference (NC) leaders on Tuesday paid glorious tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah on his 112th Birth Anniversary and took pledge to stand guard against communal polarisation and the alarming growth of hate politics.
“Isolating communal forces and strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood will be biggest tribute to Baba-e-Quom, who strived all his life for harmony among different segments of society and unity between the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said while leading the party cadre and leadership in paying homage to Sheikih Sahib at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning.
Rana exuded confidence that the National Conference cadre will stand tall in the prevailing vicious atmosphere of hate and mistrust and lead the society towards peace, harmony and tranquility in true spirit of secular ethos bequeathed by Sheikh Sahib.
Describing Sher-e-Kashmir as one of tallest leaders of the era of Mahatma Gandhi and Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, the Provincial President said his secular and progressive outlook will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations.
Speaking on the occasion, former minister and senior leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra recalled the contribution of Sheikh Sahib in ensuring equal opportunities of progress and development to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, saying he was a strong proponent of regional autonomy to satiate the peculiar aspirations of the people.
Sadhotra cautioned against the challenge of divisive politics and exhorted people to stand unitedly and fight the forces, hell bent upon trifurcation of the State.
Sr State Vice President and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia said that Sheikh Sahib struggled all his life for strengthening communal bonds between various sections of the society.
Slathia recalled the contribution of Sher-e-Kashmir in leading the people of the State towards the goal of political emancipation and socio-economic development braving numerous challenges.
State Vice President Th Kashmira Singh described Sheikh Sahib a visionary, who worked towards the political empowerment of people and laid sound foundations for the state to progress and develop.
The day started with Quran Khwani at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan that had been organized by G H Malik, which was followed by a visit to Vridh Ashram at Amphalla by senior leaders who distributed fruit among the inmates.
Meanwhile, the RS Pura Unit of National Conference under the leadership of Romesh Lal Motton held a meeting in which they paid rich tributes to the founder of the party and former Chief Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
Prominent among others present include Master Darshan Singh Azad, Surjit Singh Sasan, Satpal Mandi, Gara Ram Moton and Thoru Ram.
