Govt determined to tap tourism potential of State: Priya

JAMMU: Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi on Thursday said that J and K is a culturally and spiritually rich State wherein several religious places including that of Sufi saints are thronged by people of all faiths.
“Government is determined to tap every aspect of tourism in State with special focus on developing the places of spiritual and religious importance to meet the aspirations of people,” said Priya Sethi during her visit to Jama Masjid Talab Khatikan.
Reviewing ongoing construction works at Jama Masjid, Priya Sethi reiterated Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti’s commitment for construction of bathroom and Wudu Khana in the premises of the mosque. She also instructed the concerned officers to include the prestigious project under Phase 2 of PMDP. She asked officials to ensure availability of better facilities in and outside premises of Jama Masjid.
Showing concern over the non availability of ramp for aged and disabled persons, the minister directed to add the proposal of construction of ramp in DPR.
Priya Sethi said that once constructed this Masjid Sharief will enable more than 12,000 people to offer Namaz. Tourism Department has also sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for the construction of Minar in the Masjid, she added.
