Five thieves held in Jammu, stolen items recovered

JAMMU: With the arrest of five thieves, Police on Thursday solved several cases of theft pertaining to various Police Stations including Gangyal and Trikuta Nagar, and recovered stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees.
Jammu police achieved major success under the leadership of SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
SP South Sandeep Chaudhary while giving details of the aforesaid cases divulged that two separate cases of theft registered at Police Stations Gangyal and Trikuta Nagar have been solved.
“A case of theft was reported at Police Station Gangyal on September 11, 2017, by one Tarcholan Singh, resident of H. No. 93, Sector 3, Model Town Gangyal. Singh reported that in the intervening night of 9/10 September 2017, a theft took place in his house situated at Model Town when family was not at home and cash worth Rs 22,000 and gold ornaments were stolen”, the SP South stated adding that in this connection a case FIR No. 66/17 under Sections 457 and 380 RPC was registered at Police Station Gangyal.
“The second case was registered at Police Station Trikuta Nagar vide FIR No. 256/2017 under Sections 457 and 380 RPC”, Sandeep Choudhary said adding that two teams led by SDPO South Rafiq Manhas and SDPO East Arun Jamwal worked thoroughly on both the cases.
He said, “Subsequently, Police Station Gangyal apprehended three thieves namely Talwinder Singh alias Tannu, son of Gurjeet Singh, resident of Sector No. 2, Model Town Gangyal, Gurveer Singh, son of Harbhajan Singh, resident of Digiana Ashram Jammu and Kuldeep Singh alias Kaka, son of Mangal Singh, resident of H No 120 Sector No 6 Model Town Gangyal Jammu, and put them on sustained interrogation. During interrogation, they confessed their involvement and on their disclosure stolen gold ornaments i.e. two gold rings, eight pairs of gold Topos, one pair of gold ear rings, gold locket, four gold chains, one pair of gold bangles, one gold Kadha comprising 10.03 Tolas, one LCD Samsung, one stabilizer, Camera Stand were recovered in cases vide FIR No 66/17 under Sections 457 and 380 RPC and FIR No 74/17 under Sections 457, 380 and 427 RPC of of Police Station Gangyal, and FIR No 191/17 under Sections 457 and 380 RPC of Police Station Gandhi Nagar”.
“During further interrogation stolen property including seven gas cylinders, two motorcycles including Hero Passion Pro bearing No JK02AM 0766 and Hero Passion Pro having Engine No. MBLHA10EWBGG13093 and Chasis No HA10EDBHJ32021, and one battery were also recovered. More recoveries are expected. The arrest was made by S.I Nayat Ali SHO Gangyal and SI Vijay Sharma I/C Police Post Greater Kailash”, the SP South added.
“In the Trikuta Nagar Police Station case, team led by SHO Trikuta Nagar Parvez Sajad and SI Vikram Manhas arrested Ganesh Kumar, son of Sukh Sagar and Abhay Singh, son of Somveer. On their disclosure, Rs. 312300 cash and 3 mobile phones worth Rs. 30,000 were recovered”, the SP South informed.
The SP South said that two of the boys arrested in the case pertaining to Gangyal are heroin addicts and they committed these crimes to meet their daily needs of drugs. “Drugs have brought two-pronged challenge among youth. One is that the youth is destroying their lives with their own hands. The second challenge is that they are becoming criminals to meet the monetary demands for drugs. The only effective way to counter it in the long run is to convince our youth to stay away from drugs”, he stressed and urged parents to ensure that their wards do not indulge in such activities.
